Ever wondered where the word decal originates and what it means? Well here you go!

A vinyl decal (pronounced dee cal) is a plastic pvc type sheet material (usually called vinyl) that is either has a pattern cut out of it or has the pattern/design printed onto it. It is applied to flat or slightly curved smooth surfaces such as metal or plastic with the aid of heat or water.

Decal is an abbreviation of decalcomania which in turn is derived from the word decalquer. It was called Decalquer by Simon François Ravenet in 1750. Mania was added to the word in the mid 1800’s during evolution of printing methods.

So there you go, you learn something new every day!

The 1st of many of our posts! Today is an exciting day at Viper, we are taking ownership of our latest piece of vinyl graphic cutting equipment, it seems as if we collect them sometimes. We should now be able to have 3 machines running ‘flat out’ to cut your car graphics and decals from 9am til 6pm mon-fri.

Since our recent 60% offer on all our graphics our workload has literally doubled. We originally kept this discount for a week, but it proved very popular as you can imagine. As we now buy our vinyl in such great quantities we can (as the old saying goes) pass the saving onto you!

We are also aiming to increase the graphic range substantially, we have many decal designs in the pipeline, it’s just having the time to add them to the website.
